We have your period drama line-up for what’s new to streaming on Netflix in the US this spring – and also what’s leaving.
To help keep this site running: Willow and Thatch may receive a commission when you click on any of the links on our site and make a purchase after doing so.
This list will be updated all spring: it will house all the costume, historical, and period dramas added to Netflix in March, April, and May 2024, that we think you’ll enjoy. And of course we let you know when “Bridgerton” (Season 3) is coming out, along with the episode release dates.
New titles – from British period dramas to romantic television series, international films and biopics – will be added alphabetically to the appropriate areas all throughout the months, as soon as we learn of them. If you recognize a title from the service, it’s because movies and series often get pulled off for a period of time, and then they come back.
You can click through to watch the trailers where available – they may save you from watching something you’ll wish you hadn’t (or help you find something you nearly skipped over). Please note that some titles may be unavailable on Netflix’s ad tier.
We’ve also curated some other non-period titles of interest, including feel-good movies and TV series, comedies and romances, that are coming to Netflix that you might like. See the “You May Also Like” section for these additional suggestions of what to watch.
Period dramas leaving Netflix this spring: Leaving 3/19: Carol. Leaving 4/15: The Zookeeper’s Wife. Leaving 4/24: The Hateful Eight. Leaving 5/11: Where the Crawdads Sing. Leaving 5/31: The Great Gatsby, Noah.
The winter list for Netflix is here. The spring Prime Video list is here.
Those who are new here should know that Willow and Thatch also has a special section for period dramas that have been added recently to different streaming services. See the “New to Streaming” drop-down menu at the top of the page.

Based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels, “Bridgerton” is back for its third season and finds Penelope Featherington has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly.
Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise, who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
